A very short blog today.....in honor of Daniel Edward Randolph, known as Ed, stepdad to Eldy's late wife, Sharon...He was a navy man and VERY patriotic....It was a difficult day for Eldy's children and Eldy, as Ed was buried near their mom's grave today.....It was the first time Eldy and his children had all been able to be together at their mom's grave since Eldy's wife, Sharon, passed away five years ago.....
For the military part of the service a bugler played....there were salutes, folding of the flag...It was very moving, as it should be.....
Here's what Eldy's daughter had to say..
Today was truly and amazing day!! Very hard saying good bye to such an incredible man. The military burial was truly a wonderful ending to my Grandfathers life!! He was a WWII vet and was very proud of that. He would have been very proud!! It was also a hard day because of seeing all the pictures if my Mom. Plus he was buried not far from my Mother!! So see her grave when we walked up was hard!! But we made it through!! Good bye Grandpa you will truly be missed!!!
It's always hard to go through a day like this......and hard to know what else to say...so we will say goodbye to Ed Randolph....May he rest in peace....
And goodbye to all our readers....We will see you tomorrow...Back to Angola we go for more appointments, and a visit to the infamous storage shed.....
So sorry. Those are tough days. Give Eldy our best and hopefully tomorrow will be easier. It's the memories that keep our loved ones with us!ReplyDelete
We all lost a great man in Daniel--I'm sure he knew how much his service to our country means to so many of us.ReplyDelete
Please accept my sincerest condolences and relay them to Eldy and the children.
Condolences to all. Memories of those who have passed on sustain us.ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing Jeannie. When a good man or woman passes, I think all of us lose. Condolences to all.ReplyDelete
So sorry to read about your loss. Take care. All of us out here in blog land will be thinking of you.ReplyDelete
So sorry to hear about your loss. Heaven has another angel watching over you and your family.ReplyDelete
Thank you Jeannie for sharing our story today. My Grandfather was an amazing man. I will truly miss him. But I know he is celebrating with my Mother and his son Dan.ReplyDelete
I also want to thank you Jeannie for being such a amazing Woman and being so open when it comes to my Mother. I know a lot of Step-Mom would not do that. They would try and avoid anything to do with her or try and take her place. You always embrace it and help all of us through difficult times. I just wanted you to know how important you are to us and thank you for being you!!! Love you bunches and we will have lunch next week.
Love ya Kristi
So sorry to hear of your loss. Take care.ReplyDelete
Please tell Eldy we are sorry for the loss of his former father-in-law and his children's grand father. I had no idea he was ill. Glad you were there and not terribly far away.ReplyDelete
My deepest condolences to Eldy, his children, and you. :(ReplyDelete
Our prayers go to you two and the entire family for comfort and understanding! Bless you all.ReplyDelete
