A Somber Day

A very short blog today.....in honor of Daniel Edward Randolph, known as Ed, stepdad to Eldy's late wife, Sharon...He was a navy man and VERY patriotic....It was a difficult day for Eldy's children and Eldy, as Ed was buried near their mom's grave today.....It was the first time Eldy and his children had all been able to be together at their mom's grave since Eldy's wife, Sharon, passed away five years ago.....

For the military part of the service a bugler played....there were salutes, folding of the flag...It was very moving, as it should be.....

Here's what Eldy's daughter had to say..

Today was truly and amazing day!! Very hard saying good bye to such an incredible man. The military burial was truly a wonderful ending to my Grandfathers life!! He was a WWII vet and was very proud of that. He would have been very proud!! It was also a hard day because of seeing all the pictures if my Mom. Plus he was buried not far from my Mother!! So see her grave when we walked up was hard!! But we made it through!! Good bye Grandpa you will truly be missed!!!

It's always hard to go through a day like this......and hard to know what else to say...so we will say goodbye to Ed Randolph....May he rest in peace....

And goodbye to all our readers....We will see you tomorrow...Back to Angola we go for more appointments, and a visit to the infamous storage shed.....

  7. Thank you Jeannie for sharing our story today. My Grandfather was an amazing man. I will truly miss him. But I know he is celebrating with my Mother and his son Dan.

I also want to thank you Jeannie for being such a amazing Woman and being so open when it comes to my Mother. I know a lot of Step-Mom would not do that. They would try and avoid anything to do with her or try and take her place. You always embrace it and help all of us through difficult times. I just wanted you to know how important you are to us and thank you for being you!!! Love you bunches and we will have lunch next week.

    Love ya Kristi

  9. Please tell Eldy we are sorry for the loss of his former father-in-law and his children's grand father. I had no idea he was ill. Glad you were there and not terribly far away.
