It's already July...where do the days go? It just seems like yesterday that I got a call from my daughter, Kerry, that I was going to be a grandma. Nine months came and went, my month's visit with her came and went, and here we are, with Eldy's grandkids for a visit and it's July! We are at The Dell in Sevierille, TN and it's quite the place! A lot over budget, but we were thinking that it's going to be a great place to entertain the grandkids right there in the park, but it's not quite what we expected. VERY classy, very beautiful but not much for kids to do inside the park. It's VERY beautiful, though...

Yesterday's high of 107 was miserable...but it's hot everywhere. We spend some time at the pool yesterday here at The Dell, and today we did more of the same. The Dell is a beautiful but small RV section, you can't really call it a park. It seems it's primary purpose is to direct traffic to more traditional housing in the Hidden Mountain resort area, we think. The Dell is a small part of a gated community at Hidden Mountain East. There are eighteen sites, each site has a 50 X 80' site, fully landscaped with custom stamped concrete pad, 50 amp service, electric, water, and sewer, satellite TV, high speed internet access and daily garbage pickup. Our site is VERY nice. It has a coach house on it, but we're not allowed to use it as a renter.
Our site even has a a little garden gate leading out to the boardwalks, gazebos and ponds.
While staying at the Dell, you have access to all the Hidden Mountain East amenities--walking trails, picnic pavilions, swimming pools and fishing ponds. The fitness room wasn't much to speak of, but hey, it's nice they have one! The park is within walking distance of a place called the Apple Barn and Cider Mill, shops, and Applewood Restaurant. It's less than 2 miles to the Tanger Five Oaks Mall. There's trolley service from the Apple Barn to shops, attractions, and restaurants in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville. That might be a good thing as traffic here is TERRIBLE. There seems to be only one main drag to get anywhere and it's clogged night and day.
This is not a place where you would be able to ride a bike, the hills are VERY steep. The Dell is at the bottom of the complex's hills. To get to the pool, you HAVE to take the car or walk up a VERY steep incline to get to the top where the clubhouse is located along with the pools. Great exercise, but not in 100+ degree heat! I'll take the car, thank you! The view of the Great Smokies at the top of the hill is awesome! We are planning to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park soon...hopefully, the temps will drop a bit so we can do that! See you later!
