Of course it caused a stir at the time, but can you imagine the world of art without it? I certainly can't. Oh those haystacks and water lilies and seasides and sunflowers!

Here's a write-up I found on plein air painting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/En_plein_airKaren Vhttp://circlingthelakes.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8625049441358125186.post-46331491100878392332011-06-27T12:37:40.962-04:002011-06-27T12:37:40.962-04:00And I had five years of French! That was an interesting choice for an art fair title that's for sure! But besides t...Thank-you Greg.
You beat me to it.
But besides that, I don't really understand why people do that. I mean, can't you just call it an "Open Air Art Festival" or something like that? Or even, an "outdoor" one?
Since, if nobody really knows what it means, then it's just kinda missing the point.
It's like when people use the word "foyer" and mispronounce it.
Just say "vestibule".
Please.
And it sort of means "open", in the sense of "out in the open", but then you have to use the entire phrase, "En plein air." See?
Otherwise by its lonesome, "plein" sort of means "full". But not in the sense that you've had enough to eat.
Oh never mind.
I kind of think I'm preaching to the choir.

Maybe my comment should have just been, "Wow, that looked like fun!", and left it at that.

*sigh*Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03523653271715366168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8625049441358125186.post-41608801374338633442011-06-27T07:29:14.663-04:002011-06-27T07:29:14.663-04:00The Plein Air Art Festival looks like so much fun!...The Plein Air Art Festival looks like so much fun! I think your pictures are brilliant. I believe I like the Kite-boarder the best, but it’s a difficult choice today.
