Sadly, Lizzie passed on. It always surprised me that people were afraid of her because she was the gentlest of souls. She was a wonderful pup. Jack is still with me, and is loved by everyone who meets him, and he has become my "significant other". :)

Many years ago we owned a wonderful German Shepherd. She was supposed to be going to a school to be trained to be a seeing eye dog. She was left behind in a trailer truck for who knows how long, and came out a very sick puppy. We took her--had small children at the time and people were aghast that we would allow such a vicious dog around them. She was beautiful and regal, a pussy cat who was a wonderful companion for our family for many years.

Thanks for this post. Does my heart good. I have a number of favorite links about dogs on my blog. One is a tribute to military dogs. Again, thank you for honoring them on your blog.hobopalshttp://travelswithmrnimble.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8625049441358125186.post-3147338301750176652012-09-29T10:02:24.746-04:002012-09-29T10:02:24.746-04:00Wow.. that was really interesting! I notice a couple Labs in the pictures, More police have joined the marines and Navy in the use of Labs as service dogs.I didn't know it but they have a better nose and are perfect as bomb sniffers.Be safe out there.
