You Aren't Going to Believe This!!!!!

Especially since Sparky doesn't have pictures to prove it! Except for ones off the internet. We were coming back on I-75 from an errand one exit north from our Fruitville Road exit, coming off the ramp, and out of the corner of her eye, Sparky sees an animal slinking towards the fence away from the ramp. She looks away and then, something about it makes her look back because she KNOWS it's not a raccoon, but it's sorta like one....

But it's too big for a raccoon, and the body is too slender....She whips back towards the window to take another look...and she see this....although the tail was sliding through the grass and not dirt, it had RINGS on it!
HOLY COW! Is that what she thinks it is?????? Naw.... IT CAN'T BE!!

And then, she see this....the animal stops, turns and looks towards us and.....
HOLEY MOLEY! A ring tailed lemur!!!!! Are you serious???? Serious as a heart attack, folks!

"ELDY, THAT'S A RING TAILED LEMUR! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT DOING OUT HERE?" We are by this time well past the lemur, if that's what it was, and cruising down Fruitville towards Sun 'n' Fun.

"Eldy, we have to go back! Nobody will believe I saw a lemur out here by I-75. We've got to go back and try and find it!" Eldy, in all his practical, analytical, calm sense of propriety, says, "Oh, he's probably gone by now..." and just shakes his head because he knows what's coming next, and he needs brownie points.  "We GOTTA go back, can't we just drive back that way and you can pull off the road and I'll just go walking along the ditch and see if I can see him?" pleads Sparky. So he does a U-ey, and heads back towards the general area where Sparky saw the lemur (?). (The things I do for this woman, sighs E.)

Did we find him? Nope, of course not...But this photo of a lemur in the grass is just exactly what Sparky saw! (No, she hadn't been drinking, folks!)  Maybe he escaped from the circus....HAHAHA! The circus really IS in Sarasota, you know, but it's not running right now....Maybe he escaped from somebody's house, you know, like it was a pet or something. Sparky is going to watch the news for the next couple of days to see if anything is mentioned about a lost lemur... Are there any witnesses to collaborate Sparky's unusual sighting? Not that we know of, Eldo had his eyes on the road....That was so weird!

Stay tuned...You never know what we are going to see and do!

  6. I think you saw an actual lemur. I've heard that people buy exotic pets and keep them until they become problematic, and then let them loose. That's a terrible thing, because that poor ring-tailed lemur has probably never lived in the wild, and it's doubtful he can last long. I wonder if you should report the sighting to some kind of animal protection agency.

  7. I agree with Gypsy's comment. I hope that's not the case but what other explanation could it be????

  10. Are you sure it wasn't a ring-tailed cat? Those do exist in the south and Texas. Check out some photos online.
