Yep, Still Here in Sarasota!

Sarasota, FL       High:  85    Low:  74

In case anybody was wondering, we're still in Sarasota....just hanging out for awhile longer. Eldy said yesterday's blog was  "a bit much", too techy! Yep, even Sparky thought so, too, but she thought somebody might find something useful in all that "stuff". Well then, Sparky says, we'd better plan some more activities, because she's running out of blog topics since we've been sitting so long in Sarasota!

So for today, it's simple and easy, it's gonna be the opposite of too techy. It's going to be a leisurely, put-you-to-sleep blog, MAYBE!....We went out to breakast at Millie's, on Clark Road in Sarasota, a wonderful breakfast place that looks like you are dining in a nice family, old style dining room...

Great food! Sparky had a bad-for-you-but-delicious breakfast burrito, YUM! Eldo had just-as-bad-for-you biscuits and gravy. YUM!

In our trips out and about and around Sarasota today, and looking randomly for garage sales, Sparky saw this pond in one of the city's parks--Colonial Oaks Park off Honore. It's a big park, and it has a half court indoor basketball/gymnasium there. It's a really nice park. Sure looks like an ordinary pond, doesn't it?

Come a little closer and look what you might have missed if you didn't stop...
Closer.....

Still closer......And voila!  A lotus blossom, Sparky thinks, lots of them in this marshy pond. Sparky checked for gators first, before venturing down to the water's edge to capture some of these beautiful blossoms.
It was an amazing place once the photographer's eye hones in.....
Even a single petal gently cradled in a large leaf captured Sparky's eye.....

Sparky tried to find different stages of development to see how the pods relate to the blooms. Here is a pod in the green stage, but you can't see any petals around it.
There were some soggy brown "monkey pods" laying around on the ground. At least that's what Sparky knows them. She thinks they are lotus pods, if she identified the flower itself correctly. Pods make great nature pieces for wreaths. The brown ones were too soggy and not in good shape or Sparky would have gathered some up and taken them home and dried them out.

Sparky is not sure of the stages of development for this flower but thinks the tulip shape bloom comes first, then opens up to reveal the pod inside?

The flowers were just beautiful.....and so were the droplet patterns on the leaf pads.....
A lovely morning out and about in Sarasota.....There will be many more, we're sure...

Hope we didn't put you and Eldo to sleep today.....Eldy? .....ELDY???? (I'm awake! What do you want to do the rest of today, sweetie?)  We'll see...No plans just yet.....Bye for now....

  2. Definitely a photographer's eye. Watching the weather it appears you may be getting some rain. Hope it goes away.
