We Love a Parade!

We saw that there was going to be a parade in downtown Santa Rosa this past weekend, so we went and parked ourselves along the street for the Luther Burbank Rose parade. What a great parade! It lasted two and a half hours and had everything you could possibly want in a parade....lots of bands---middle school and high school...
A terrific high school drum line....
Cars--antique and otherwise....
Little kids bored and or adorable.....
All kinds of specialty groups were represented along with different ethnic groups....
Loved the Chinese dragon...
The Japanese drumming.....

And the floats....
Lots of pretty girls, and patriotic displays of support for our troops....

I especially loved "Sparky" the fire dog....(E. says he loves Sparky, too!)  XXOO
And a parade is not a parade without the clowns passing out candy and tortillas...WHAT??!!! Yep, they or one of the specialty groups threw tortillas out to the crowd in addition to candy!!!!

We thought one of the most amazing parts of today's parade were the Sebastopol Rancheros...hope I got that right. Hispanic riders with huge sombreros, their horses beautifully decorated, pranced down the street, and the rancheros had their mounts dancing, prancing, and high stepping sideways, skipping, doing all kinds of fancy moves. The crowd cheered their appreciation....it was a beautiful sight to see!
There was this and so much more....We thoroughly enjoyed the parade today and we were so glad to be in the area  to experience this wonderful Santa Rosa tradition!
